A fun fact: did you know that Illinois was the 16th state to legalize same-sex marriage.

Boystown

Was the first official recognized gay community in the United States. With more than 30 different gay and lesbian bars, you will never be bored while living in or visiting in Chicago. When you are in Boystown, you will not have a problem fitting in or finding the right people to hang with.

Andersonville

Is a neighborhood that celebrates the diversity of everyone that visits. It is home to a large LGBT population and has a collection of independent shops that are hip and popular along with locally owned restaurants for you to enjoy. If you are looking for a place to visit that is accepting of every background, Andersonville is the place to go.

Urban Village Church

Is an inclusive church that accepts everyone. They will make you feel like you have a place to call your own. At Urban Village, everyone has a place at the table no matter your race, sexual orientation, and gender. Wherever you are in your spiritual journey, whether it is seeking Jesus or if you have already found Jesus, you are welcomed here. They have different locations in Chicago that include Edgewater, Hyde Park-Woodlawn, South Loop, and Wicker Park.

Hydrate

Is a late night club that welcomes the LGBT community, located on N. Halsted St. Shows, music, dancing, and amazing late night parties add excitement to Chicago’s nightlife. Hydrate brings some of the best DJs to Chicago. Not only can you go and have an amazing time with other Chicagoians but you can also have private parties for you and your friends.

Scarlet

Is a bar located Boystown. It is popular among the LGBT community and has many events throughout the year. Every Saturday, Scarlet hosts drag queen Aurora Gozmic. Happy hour is from 8-9pm and they have $5 Fireball and $5 imports. On Thursdays, it’s FRAT Night and they have $6 pitchers and $6 40’s. It is hosted by Fox E Kim. On Wednesday, March 7th you can sing along to your favorite Disney hits and a showing of High School Musical. From 8-9pm they will be having $1 wells and $6 pitchers. You can always rely on Scarlet for an amazing time.

Pride Month

Is the entire month of June and has all sorts of activities such as plays, musical performances, Lake Michigan cruises, parties, and food trucks. Pride Fest takes place on June 17-18 and consists of anything from drag shows to music. Come experience the Pride Parade on Sunday, June 24th. It is always a huge celebration of like minded people who are there to support each other.
