People’s Community Acupuncture is offering two FREE acupuncture treatments to ALL PPM Chicago apartment RESIDENTS, with no strings attached.
Unsure about what acupuncture is all about? Below, Kinga Van Brunt, one of Peoples’ licensed acupuncturists, answers some of our questions.
How does acupuncture work?
As people age, the health of their vascular system declines, which causes uneven blood flow, or even blood stasis, in different parts of their body. This, as you would expect, can affect it negatively. Uneven blood flow will prevent the proper amount of nutrients and vital oxygen from reaching your organs. Acupuncture works by stimulating blood flow to key vascular areas, and in turn helps body repair itself naturally.
Well, your experience at our facility would be a little different than at most. We use an open treatment room. That is, our patients are treated in a group area. Also, we use a distal needling technique. With this technique, patients do not disrobe. They take off their shoes, roll their pants up to their knees, and roll their sleeves to their elbows. Only these parts of the body get needled. We find that this makes our patients more comfortable, is more time efficient for them, and still provides the restorative effects of other types of acupuncture.
What ailments do you treat?
We treat patients for both chronic and acute injuries, including (but not limited to):
-Lower back pain
-Allergy and sinus problems
Also, it is very effective for stroke patients and those undergoing chemotherapy
Here’s the big question – Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are so thin that most patients feel little or no pain. For those that do feel discomfort, it is equivalent to a little pinch on the skin.
